NY Botanical Garden – Kiku

Autumn is actually one of my favorite season. I love how the leaves change into beautiful sunset colors of orange and yellow. And just when all the flowers seem to fade, the only flower that blooms is the chrysanthemum.

And when it comes to finding art in the beauty of nature, the Japanese have done a great job with it. The latest flower show to be held featuring these autumn flowers is the Kiku, which translates to Japanese art of Chrysanthemum displays. Below is a little snapshot from the NY Botanical website. Please visit the website to see more beautiful images and to purchase your ticket.

You can see from this NY Botanical video how much work is involved to come up with such displays. Many of the process begin in advance from 6 months to 1 year. And it is for all to relish at their perfect form and beauty. You better hurry since they will be wrapping up the show by November 17th.

If there was ever a good reason to live near New York City, it would be because of the NY Botanical Garden. It is located at Bronx River Parkway and Fordham Road in the Bronx. If I am ever in the area again, I will definitely make a visit.
